산업디자인학과 졸업전시

2025년 홍익대학교 산업디자인과 졸업전시는 실용성만을 판단 기준으로 삼는 기존의 목적 중심 디자인을 탈피하기 위하여 '쓸모없음의 쓸모'를 제시합니다.
'What If'란, 그 안에서 무쓸모의 가치를 기반으로 새로운 가능성을 탐구해 나가는 학생들만의 미래 지향적 디자인 태도입니다.

우리는 졸업전시회를 통해 '쓸모없는 것' 속에서 학생들만의 창조적 가치를 형성하는 과정으로서 '만약에, What If'라는 의문을 제시합니다.

The 2025 Hongik Industrial Design Graduation Exhibition presents “the use of uselessness” as a way to move beyond conventional purpose-centered design, which has long taken practicality as its only standard of judgment. The “use of uselessness” suggests the possibility of spontaneou Inaction, accidental and organic, which only students can propose by breaking free from binary ways of thinking.

“What If” represents a future-oriented design attitude, in which students explore new possibilities based on the very value of uselessness. Through this graduation exhibition, we pose the question “What If”—a process of discovering creative value within uselessness.

Shrouded Birth

장막 속 미지의 가능성

새로운 가능성이 장막을 뚫고 나오려는 탄생 직전의 모습을 통해 What If를 형상화합니다. 끊임없이 유동하는 장막 내부의 형태는 포착되는 순간에 따라 무한한 양태로 나타나며, 생성형 AI를 통한 우연하고 예측 불가능한 형상화 과정은 새로운 시대의 What If의 가치를 역설합니다. 이러한 모습은 감상자에게 미지의 가능성에 대한 상상과 긴장감을 경험하게 하는 동시에, 디자인이 쓸모를 갖기 전 지닌 무한한 창조성을 온전히 느끼게 합니다.

What If is visualized through the image of new possibilities about to break through the shroud at the moment of birth. The continuously shifting forms within the shroud appear in infinite variations depending on the moment of capture. The process of shaping these forms through generative AI—accidental and unpredictable—urges the value of What If in a new era.

This vision invites viewers to experience both imagination and tension toward the unknown, while fully sensing the boundless creativity that design holds before it acquires “use.”
